A bit of sewing and some showing off!

I am on the warpath to get some samples made for my shop now that we are a fully fledged craft store and all the music part of the business is gone ( Yeh Yeh Yeh - just slightly overjoyed).  So I am making up a new sample of my Ella Clutch Handbag and will be producing kits with all the fabric & accessories needed to complete.

I started last night and will finish it hopefully tonight if little miss Ella stays in bed.

Posted is the picture of last night's effort - I don't seem to get much done in one session these days.

The following photos are really just me puffing my chest....( Ella calling - interruption number 1 )  Yes back the the photos, they are the last three issues of Creative Beading Magazine with my projects in them and the associated samples displayed.  I laid them out on a table at the store today so I thought I would take some pictures to share.

The Briny Sea Bracelet Kit

Finished a new beading kit today - instruction ready , printed, all ready to go!!

Wonderful kit for a beginner beader or anyone who loves wirework.  The kit is priced as $12 and features Czech Table Rut Beads and big silver pattern discs.

Lampwork Sea Star Necklace

Another project completed and ready to post off to the magazine for photography and styling.  I made the lampwork stars a few weeks ago and have been trying to find a way to use them in a jewellery design that would showcase the bead.  It was hard to come up with an original way of using the star bead due to the way the hole is placed.  I thought of a few other ways to create the piece but none of them appealed to me once I put the necklace on.  Using the bead as a pendant was the most logical choice.

I teamed the star up with some beautiful turquoise gemstone ovals - I love turquoise.  I think this colour will be big this spring and summer as I have seen a few celebrities in mags with turquoise jewellery.

This necklace will be available in kit form soon ( as soon as I make some more beads - back to the laundrio for me)

I have also been playing around with some great tutorials on digital framing of photos using PhotoShop - so here is one of my experiments, this could be addictive!

I haven't had anything on Etsy for a while - but with my renewed interest in my lampwork creations and some silversmithing work - I have started to load some items in my store - This is the first to jump into the store - These items are purely one offs as it is hard to recreate them.  This one is on Etsy for $30US.

Fabric Buttons and Yo Yo's for Jewellery

A couple of days ago I received my fabric pack from Kimono House - I am part of the Fabric Club and we are sent swatches of fabric that is new to the store.  I often wonder what to do with small pieces of fabric since I don't do a lot of quilting.  The jewellery designer came out in me today and a couple of ideas popped into my head.

I have used some the the fabric to make small yo yo's with the help of a clover yo yo maker and also some extra large self covering metal buttons.

I am attaching jump rings (sewn on) to the yo yos so that I can attach them to the jewellery design - not to sure yet what I will do - but it is a start.

I also made a yo yo flower and attached one of my handcrafted lampwork beads for the centre - the colours just went together so well I couldn't resist.  The button and the beaded flower will become the focals of my design.

I just loved the sample of fabric that had the bird on it - I think I must buy some more of this one it is so cute.

Treetops Trio

I finished this trio of Necklace, Bracelet & Earrings today. I was inspired by the tree and bird pendant that is popping everywhere in craft these days.  I matched the pendant together with Moss Agate gemstones, czech crystals, swarovski crystals and glass leaves with a chunky chain to set it all off.  I think this will be my next submission piece to Creative Beading magazine.

I have most of the supplies in store for this piece so I you would like to do something like this contact me and I will be more than happy to help you out.

The "Unfortunately" meme

Unfortunately Tania and I were a little over anxious in terms of our partying, and decided to get completely wasted the Friday night before

The following weekend we had decided to make use of the weather and go rollerblading along False Creek, here unfortunately, Tania lost control and fell

Unfortunately Tania still had her Swiss Army knife in her purse, though fortunately, once she explained that she was indeed Canadian and not a football fan

Unfortunately, Tania only has one e-mail account registered for her use, that she uses for both her work as well as personal affairs.

Beautiful Retro Beaded Rings

Over the past week I have been trying out some on the beaded ring pattern in Bead Fantasies II by Takako Samejima - This book is a translation of her Japanese Issue.  I have admired her beading designs for years but only now have I decided to take the plunge to give the patterns a go.  The diagrams are great and the instructions for the two I have completed were fairly easy to follow.

The only downside is finding the beads that she uses.  I have been searching bead supplies for the sizes and types of beads and have hit many brick walls.  She uses fantastic and hard to find supplies.  I have tried to find the closest match for these two designs I can - and I will be offering them in kits on my website for those who purchases the book or who already have the book.  As you can appreciate I can not replicate the patterns for sale, so you will have to use the book for the instructions.  

Here are some photos of the finished objects - I will be making more that will be available for sale on my website in the near future - I plan on making matching necklaces and bracelets for the rings as well.

For this first ring I have used , pink lepidolite and brown snow jasper.

I think it has a real old world charm about it.

 

This ring is made from mother of pearl coins - This was a bit of a practice ring - it is not supposed to be this large but I made it from supplies I already had.  I am waiting on some mother of pearl round beads to make it up in the original combination of Brown mother of pearl coins and a natural cream mother of pearl bead in the centre.
